Mountain biking is a sport which consists of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially adapted mountain bikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes, but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain.
Mountain biking can generally be broken down into multiple categories: cross country, trail riding, all mountain, downhill, freeride, street riding, dirt jumping and trials. The vast majority of mountain biking falls into the recreational XC and Trail Riding categories (more information at Wikipedia).
But what we really want to talk about today is Mountain Biking in Japan. A country where it has a rich landscape for mountain biking or just plain cycling also boasts many different brands. Just to name a few, Fuji, Shimano, Bridgestone, Panasonic, Nishiki (US Brand but made in Japan), others (Wiki it!).
Other than the usual suspects found in Japan, there are also a lot of imported bikes from all around the world. And what is the largest used/2nd hand bike auction in Japan? None other than Yahoo Japan Auctions!. With over 70 over brands (both Mountain Biking and Road Biking) and more than a couple of thousand bikes on sale or auction. Also you can find spares and other biking accessories that you may not find here in Malaysia.
